Employees Injured In 2 Lincoln Square Robberies
(CBS) – The Lincoln Square neighborhood was the scene of two recent retail robberies in which store employees have been attacked.
A man entered a business in the 2300 block of West Leland Avenue at 4:15 p.m. and asked a clerk for help before demanding money from the register. The suspect punched and attacked the clerk, who was alone, before running off with about $80.
Emily Frank, the manager of the robbed business, told CBS 2 the employee suffered bruises and a laceration that required a couple of stitches. He was alone at the time of the incident.
"We are trying to up our security at the store – I won't say how," Frank said. "It's a little scary."
A similar robbery and assault occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday in a business along the 1900 block of West Montrose Avenue.
