Chipper Jones To Rutgers Basketball Players: ‘Toughen Up’

(CBS) Hours after Rutgers announced it had fired basketball coach Mike Rice for verbally and psychically abusing his players, former MLB All-Star Chipper Jones responded.

“I got cursed at and called names by a ton of people growing up,” Jones tweeted Wednesday. “Were they fired? Nope! Do I care? Nope! What’s the big deal? Toughen up!”

Rice was caught on video berating his players with various racial and homophobic slurs, while repeatedly throwing basketballs at them out of anger.

“Yeah, been hit w/ bball equipment on purpose, been dragged around a football field by my facemask and ran suicides til I puked! I ain’t mad,” Jones later tweeted.
