(STMW) — Police have issued a community alert to let residents of the Wicker Park neighborhood know of the sexual assault of a girl that occurred earlier this week.

About 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the juvenile victim was walking in the 1600 block of North Hermitage Avenue when a man forced her into the backseat of his vehicle and sexually assaulted her, the alert said.

The girl’s attacker was described as a black male, who wore a black ski mask through which only his eyes and mouth were visible, the alert said. He was last seen driving a square body 4-door SUV, possibly a Jeep, with a leather interior, though its color or model were unknown.

If anyone has any information on this attack, they are asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8261.
