(CBS) The Bears signed kicker Austin Signor to a three-year contract Friday.

Signor participated in this week’s voluntary mini-camp on a tryout basis.

The kicker played college football at Iowa (2006-07) and Eastern Illinois (2008-09) and has never kicked in the NFL.

It is interesting Signor received a three-year deal considering he has been out of college for over three years and hasn’t kicked in an NFL game. Bears kicker Robbie Gould is still recovering from the calf injury he suffered late last season. He did not participate in this week’s mini-camp because of the injury and is entering the final year of his contract.
