March Against Child Abuse Held In Daley Plaza

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The so-called Million March Against Child Abuse is taking place today in cities across the nation. WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore caught up with a small crowd of demonstrators in Daley Center Plaza.

March Against Child Abuse Held In Daley Plaza

Christina Jones was leading the Chicago March Against Child Abuse, similar to efforts in like Washington D.C., Atlanta, Los Angeles and Boston.

"The primary mission is to promote awareness for child abuse and also for tougher sentencing for crimes against children," said Jones.

There have been some heartbreaking high profile abuse cases in this area recently, aren't people already aware?

"Unfortunately, only three million cases of child abuse are reported every year, and it is estimated that with the unreported cases it is more like nine million a year," said Jones.

So Jones' message is if you see or suspect child abuse, say something to someone.
