Robert Redford Behind New Series ‘Chicagoland’

CHICAGO (CBS) — Welcome to Chicagoland, Mr. Redford.

The legendary actor/filmmaker Robert Redford will be the creative force behind an eight-part documentary-style program about the city, titled “Chicagoland.”

It will air on CNN in 2014.

In a statement, Redford said the series will explore the city’s “profound daily challenges”–presumably including the city’s problem with gang violence and restructuring the city’s public education system.

The series will also focus on Chicago’s “tough, visionary mayor” Rahm Emanuel.

“It’s a city that wears its heart on its sleeve and I am honored to be a part of telling this story,” Redford said.
