CHICAGO (CBS) — Cardinal George presided over a special mass at Holy Name Cathedral today, honoring expectant mothers, reports WBBM’s Michele Fiore.
Some expected the blessing, some did not. Patty Stevens says two years ago when she was pregnant with her daughter, she attended Mother’s Day mass at Holy Name, and got pretty emotional when Cardinal George asked her and other moms-to-be to step forward.
“To be here and have the Cardinal be here and give you that special blessing, it just means a lot,” said Stevens.
Each received a white rose. Stevens is due in just two weeks. Nothing was going to hold her back from attending mass this Mother’s Day, well, nothing except if a baby wanted to make an early arrival, but that didn’t happen.
