Governor Quinn Announces $5 Million Investment In Military Families
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Janelle Hamilton's a former army reservist who served in Germany as support for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Home again, Hamilton found an apartment but wanted so much more for herself and her son.
"I had worked so hard to get here, save enough money and rebuilding my credit and everything," said Hamilton.
She turned to Governor Quinn's welcome home heroes program.
"We do not want anyone who is a veteran or anyone in Illinois to be homeless," said Quinn.
The program features a 30 year loan and financial assistance with a down payment.

"I was ecstatic. Words cannot describe how happy I was," said Hamilton.
And Quinn says, the state is allocating another $5 million to Welcome Home Heroes.
