Man Dies In Fall From Uptown High-Rise

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An Uptown neighborhood man fell to his death from a high-rise building early Tuesday.

Joseph Aning, 66, apparently fell from the 13th floor of a building in the 800 block of West Wilson Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Authorities responded about 5:25 a.m., and believe he may have jumped out of a window, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

Aning, of the 4500 block of North Clarendon Avenue, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died about half an hour later, according to the medical examiner's office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, and Area North detectives are conducting a death investigation.
