CHICAGO (CBS) — Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky says she is hopeful about the chances for comprehensive Immigration Reform on Capitol Hill this year. She spoke as she joined House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi here in Chicago, reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi says she hopes immigration reform will win final passage before the end of August.

Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky says one of her colleagues in the delegation is a key player in that scenario.

“Luis Gutierrez is part of a gang of eight that is working on a bipartisan bill and then we could go to conference and work out perhaps even the best bill, better even than the Senate bill. So, this is a very exciting moment right now,” said Schakowsky.

Still, Schakowsky says the legislation isn’t perfect but a very good start.
