Two Charged In Shooting Death At Avalon Park Party

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two teenage boys were charged and a man is being held in connection with the shooting death of a man at a party in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood.

Three uninvited guests were asked to leave a family party in the 8400 block of South Constance Avenue about 10:45 p.m., police said.

They were escorted outside where a verbal argument ensued, police said. A 19-year-old man pulled out a handgun and shot the victim twice in the chest before running away.

Dionte Maxwell, of the 8400 block of South Marshfield Avenue, was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where he died at 11:53 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Two 16-year-old boys were charged with armed home invasion, attempted home invasion and mob action, police said. Charges are pending against a 19-year-old man who is being held for his involvement with the shooting.

The teen boys are expected Sunday in bond court.
