19-Year-Old Man Hit By Car On Lake Shore Drive
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A vehicle on Lake Shore Drive hit a pedestrian when a group of people tried to run across the roadway near the Gold Coast early Sunday.
The group of five people stepped over a guardrail and ran across the northbound lanes in the 1300 block of North Lake Shore Drive about 12:35 a.m., police said.
A 19-year-old Addison man stumbled into the northbound lanes and a 2003 BMW 325 struck him, police said.
The man was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
The female driver of the BMW remained on the scene, police said.
An underground walkway was located near the scene of the accident, police said.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
