3-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Homer Glen Pool

HOMER GLEN, Ill. (STMW) -- A 3-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool southwest suburban Homer Glen in Sunday morning, the Herald News reports.

Will County Sheriff's police were notified when the child was reported missing from a residence in the 13300 block of Chicago-Bloomington Road where he was staying with his family.

Nathan Kackert, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was found a short time later in the in-ground pool of another house in the same block. A neighbor attempted CPR until a deputy and Homer Glen fire personnel arrived. The boy was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m.

Sheriff's police said the pool is gated but the gate may have been left open Saturday night.

The boy's death appears accidental and is not being investigated as foul play, according to police reports.

A full autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
