Police: One Killed, One Wounded In Back Of The Yards Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) — One man was killed and another wounded Sunday afternoon in a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Ashland Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the back and killed, police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said.

Another man, 22, was shot in the arm and chest and taken in “stable” condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Purkiss said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
