(CBS) Sports Illustrated’s Stewart Mandel compiled a ranking of the best and worst college football coaches in the country – and it’s not good for the University of Illinois.
According to Mandel, Illinois’ Beckman ranks as one of the top five worst coaches in all of college football.
“I may be jumping the gun here, but Beckman — hired at Illinois following a pair of eight-win seasons at Toledo — has done little to inspire confidence either on the field (2-10 in 2012) or on the recruiting trail with the Illini,” writes Mandel.
Rounding out the top five worst coaches, in no particular order, were USC’s Lane Kiffin, Kansas’ Charlie Weis, Eastern Michigan’s Ron English and Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz
So who was the No. 1 coach in all of college football? Well, that’s Nick Saban of course, followed by Ohio State’s Urban Meyer.
