Four People Injured In Lake Shore Drive Wreck
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Four people were critically injured when an SUV flipped over on North Lake Shore Drive early Monday.
About 2:10 a.m., the SUV was traveling south on Lake Shore Drive when it flipped over just south of West Irving Park Road, according to a Chicago Fire Department official.
The SUV was the only car that crashed, police said.
Two of the injured were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, according to the fire department.
Two others, who were also in critical condition, were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Police closed the southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive between Irving Park Road and West Belmont Avenue to clear debris and investigate.
But as of about 4 a.m. the roadway was open again.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
