CHICAGO (STMW) – A man was critically wounded during a shooting in the West Side Austin neighborhood Thursday night, police said.

The 23-year-old man was outside in the 1100 block of North Waller Avenue when he was shot multiple times in the chest and back at 11:33 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Police offered few details about the shooting, saying residents would not come forward when investigators combed the neighborhood for witnesses.

The 23-year-old was taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigated.
