Police: Father Hid PCP In Toddler's Pants During Traffic Stop

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A West Side father allegedly tried to hide 26 packets of PCP-laced drugs in his two-year-old daughter's pants during a routine traffic stop near his North Lawndale home.

Emmanuel Wiggins, 24, was riding as a passenger in a Jeep with his daughter in his lap when police stopped the SUV about 1 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of South Harding Avenue, according to a police report.

Officers questioning Wiggins about why the girl wasn't in a car seat noticed a strong odor that smelled like PCP, police said.

Wiggins, of the 1400 block of South Harding Avenue, told officers they were going to be dropped off at the corner, authorities said.

When Wiggins exited the SUV the officers noticed a "bulge" in the toddler's pants, the report said.

An officer checked the child's pants and found a clear plastic baggie with 26 tin foil packages inside containing a leafy substance laced with PCP, the report said.

Wiggins allegedly told the officers: "I'm sorry. I know I f----- up. Please don't take my daughter away. I got nervous when you guys stopped us and I tried to hide it in her clothes."

The child was taken to St. Anthony Hospital to ensure she wasn't affected from her contact with the drugs.

Wiggins was charged with possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment, police said. Judge James Brown ordered him held on $25,000 bond, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.

Wiggins, whose street name is "Blue," is a documented gang member, police said. He has no prior felony convictions.
