2 Adults, 3 Teens Charged In South Chicago Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Five people—two adults and three teens—have been charged with shooting two men late Tuesday in the South Chicago neighborhood.
Christian Ortiz, 29, of Romeoville; and Jesus Quintana Jr., 27, of Chicago, were each charged with two counts of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, police said. A 14-year-old boy, 15-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy were each charged with one count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, police said.
The teens, whose named were not released, were turned over to Juvenile Advocacy for processing, police said.
The five are charged with two shootings moments apart late Tuesday in the South Chicago neighborhood.
The first shooting happened about 10:50 p.m. when a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 2700 block of East 87th Street, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
Just one minute later and about three blocks away, bullets hit a 21-year-old man in his arm and neck as he stood on a porch at East 88th Street and South Escanaba Avenue, Gaines said.
Both the 21-year-old and the 23-year-old were taken in "stable" conditions to area hospitals, police said.
Ortiz, of the 2000 block of Rosehill Court in Romeoville; and Quintana, of the 10700 block of S. Avenue M., are expected to appear in bond court Friday.
