Bears Reach Injury Settlement With Blanchard

(CBS) The Bears and quarterback Matt Blanchard have reached an injury settlement.

With Blanchard out of the picture, the Bears have reached the 75-man roster limit that goes into effect Tuesday afternoon.

Blanchard, a second-year quarterback out of Wisconsin-Whitewater, fractured a knuckle on his left non-throwing hand in the second preseason game against the Chargers.

In accordance with the injury settlement, the 24-year-old Blanchard will not be eligible to re-sign with the Bears until after Week 10. He will also be unable to join the team's practice squad. Blanchard, however, is free to sign with another team once the injury settlement has expired.

"Getting injured at all it's always frustrating," Blanchard said. "You just have to handle it with as much poise as possible. You have to keep your head up and move forward."
