CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man lured a 12-year-old girl into his van at a bus shelter, then sexually assaulted her last week in the Northwest Side Jefferson Park neighborhood.

The girl was standing in a CTA shelter in the 5300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on Sept. 18 when the man lured her into his van, which was parked in a lot outside an auto parts store, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The man drove the girl to an area near the 5400 block of North East River Road, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

The attacker was described as a Hispanic man 35-40 with a medium complexion, shaved head and long goatee, police said. He was 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds with a "pot belly."

He was wearing a black hat, black shirt and black pants.

The vehicle was as a green conversion van with black stripes on the side.

Anyone with information should call the Special Investigations Unit at (312) 492-3810.
