Hammer-Wielding Robbers Shake Down Victims In Lakeview

(STMW) — Police are searching for several people who have committed at least three armed robberies with a hammer in the last four months in the North Side Lakeview neighborhood.
All three robberies occurred between midnight and 3:45 a.m., police said. In each case, between one and six people approached the victim on the sidewalk and threatened the person with a hammer and demanded property.
In one case, a victim was hit in the leg with the hammer, according to an alert issued by police.
The robberies occurred:
—Between 3-3:45 a.m. on May 22 in the 2800 block of North Southport.
— 12 a.m. on Aug. 22 in the 600 block of West Buckingham Place.
— 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 30 in the 3000 block of North Seminary.
