CHICAGO (STMW) – An elderly man has been charged after a 70-year-old woman was found stabbed to death Wednesday afternoon in the North Side Edgewater neighborhood apartment they shared.

Mordecai Faskowitz, 63, of the 1300 block of West Thorndale Avenue, was charged with first degree murder, police News Affairs said.

Police conducting a well-being check at the apartment found the woman stabbed multiple times about 12:10 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

Marjorie Ivy, 70, suffered a traumatic injury to her neck, and multiple stab wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

Police believe the stabbing is domestic-related.

Faskowitz is expected Friday in bond court.
