Elderly Cyclist Struck, Killed By Car In Oak Park

CHICAGO (STMW) – An elderly bicyclist died after being hit by a car near his home in west suburban Oak Park Thursday night.

Suleyman Cetin, 91, was riding a bike in the 500 block of Madison Street in Oak Park about 7:56 p.m. when he was hit by a Chevy Impala, according to Oak Park police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Cetin, also of the 500 block of Madison Street, was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood at 9:59 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

No charges were filed against the driver as of Friday morning, and the circumstances surrounding the crash remained under investigation, police said.
