Durbin Defends Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
(CBS) — As problems with the online health insurance exchanges prompt calls for heads to roll in the Obama administration, Senator Dick Durbin continues to support those running the beleaguered site.
Senator Durbin said threats to subpoena Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to get her to speak at a House committee investigating Healthcare.gov are entirely unfair.
“I spoke to her personally and the Republicans called her and said would you came and testify and she said I have a conflict that day and they said we will do it the following week. Then they went to the press and announced that she refused to come,” said Durbin.
The Democrat says that instead of so many Republican leaders rooting for the Affordable Care Act to fail, he says Congress should help fix the problems.
