CHICAGO (STMW) – A man was killed in a single-car crash on Lake Shore Drive in the North Side Lincoln Park neighborhood Sunday night.

The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Lake Shore Drive, police said. A car hit a light pole on the driver’s side.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 37-year-old man, was killed, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The man, whose name was not released early Monday pending notification of family, was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:09 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

The southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive were closed temporarily in the vicinity of the crash, police said.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating
