Martellus Bennett Vows To Recruit Brother To Bears In 2014

(CBS) Martellus Bennett could easily be considered the Bears' best offseason acquisition.

Bennett has caught 53 passes for 588 yards and five touchdowns this season, and when 2014 rolls around, he could be responsible for another major acquisition by the Bears.

On The Boers and Bernstein Show on Tuesday, Bennett said once this season is over, he's going to try to recruit his older brother Michael, a defensive end for the Seahawks, to the Bears.

"Next year I am trying to get him to come here because he will be a free agent again. So I am selling him already," Bennett said.

"Hey, our kids (can) grow up together, we're right around the corner from each other ... We're extremely close ... like we talk every day all day."

Michael, 28, is in his fifth season out of Texas A&M. He's recorded 6.5 sacks and 20 tackles so far this. Last season, he registered nine sacks and three forced fumbles with the Bucs before signing a one-year contract with the Seahawks.

"I think he would be a huge asset to this team, Martellus said. "So I'm recruiting him already and I am already whispering into the defensive coaches' ears and everything."
