(CBS)  – Four former Dominick’s stores in the northwest suburbs have been purchased by  independent chain Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market.

A company representative confirmed to CBS 2 that the chain has bought former Dominick’s stores in Northbrook, Arlington Heights, Des Plaines and Elk Grove Village.

The Northbrook and Arlington Heights stores are expected to open by late March or early April, the company representative said, followed by the Elk Grove Village site. The Des Plaines location will be open by the end of 2014.

Joe Caputo & Sons currently operates three suburban stores, in Algonquin, Des Plaines and Palatine. For more information, including employment information, click here.

The Dominick’s chain folded in the Chicago area late last year after owner Safeway Inc. announced the stores had lost money. Some of the stories were purchased by rivals.
