(CBS) The Cubs have sent third base prospect Kris Bryant to minor league camp and assigned a pair of high-profile prospects to minor league teams, they announced Friday.

Infielder Arismendy Alcantara will start the season at Triple-A Iowa, while outfielder Jorge Soler will begin at Double-A Tennessee.

Infielder Logan Watkins, outfielder Matt Szczur and pitcher Dallas Beeler were also assigned to Triple-A. Other non-roster invitees at big league camp to get sent to minor league camp were right-handed pitchers Marcus Hatley and Carlos Pimentel, left-handed pitcher Eric Jokisch, infielder Jeudy Valdez and outfielder Albert Almora.

The Cubs’ spring training roster now consists of 54 players.
