(CBS) — Streamwood High School was on lockdown Friday as police investigated a gun at the school.

Students were delayed about an hour in getting dismissed from school.

Police say it began with rumors of a gun in the school.

In a statement, the police department says it recovered a gun just off of school property and took a student into custody.

An assistant principal tells WBBM no one in the school was hurt during the episode.

Nate McCoy praises the response by both police and students.

There’s no word on the student’s identity or any charges at this point.
