Northwestern Announces $3.75 Billion Fundraising Effort

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) -- Northwestern University is kicking off an ambitious $3.75 billion fundraising effort.

The private suburban Chicago university says the money will be used to a series of new buildings and renovations while also endowing professorships, creating scholarships and supporting research, among other plans.

Officials plan to build a new lakefront recreation complex, visitors center and music and communications building on the Evanston campus.
