(CBS) It’s April Fool’s Day, and to the best of our knowledge, no one in the sports world has been tricked too badly as of mid-morning.
A few figure to be reported, though. The jokes that do happen will have high standards to live up to in the pantheon of great April Fool’s Day pranks in sports. At or near the top of that list is a joke pulled by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban in 2003, when he hired a faux referee to take to the court during a timeout and then started berating him before, eventually, starting a fight. It was made all so believable by Cuban’s long history of criticizing officials.
Check out the video, and remember to appreciate Cuban. He’s one of a kind.
