CHICAGO (STMW) — A woman was fatally struck by a car Tuesday afternoon in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
Susan Perkins, 48, was struck by a car about 2:40 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The female driver of a Lexus was exiting a parking lot and making a left turn onto Belmont, when the woman “leaped” in front of her vehicle, police said.
Perkins, of the 3400 block of North Keating Avenue, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 3:39 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
No citations have been issued in connection with the crash, as the Major Accident Investigation Unit investigates.
