ROSELAWN, Ind. (CBS) -- A father and two of his children were killed overnight, when their SUV rear-ended a semi-trailer truck on Interstate 65 in northwest Indiana.

Indiana State Police said a tanker truck carrying nitric acid crashed and rolled over on I-65 near Roselawn around 10:30 p.m. Monday, spilling its load. About an hour later, an 2008 Toyota Sequoia slammed into the rear of a semi-trailer truck that was stopped in a traffic backup from the crash, killing three people in the vehicle.

The driver of the Sequoia, 45-year-old Mallik Chaganti, and a son and daughter were killed in the crash. A third child survived the crash and was taken to the hospital.

The children's names have not yet been released.

The truck driver was not hurt.
