(CBS) — Mayor Emanuel admits he alienates people as he pushes hard to accomplish his goals, but he’s not that contrite about it.
WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports.
Emanuel fielded questions Friday from Chicago Public Television host Phil Ponce, a neighbor of the mayor’s in the Ravenswood neighborhood.
One of the questions: Does the mayor alienate some people who could in fact help him achieve his goals?
“Well, the short answer is yes,” Emanuel said. “Phil, as you know, your strengths, my strengths, while they’re different strengths, is also our weaknesses.”
During the discussion hosted by the University of Chicago the mayor said he goes at things with a passion. He says his wife sometimes urges him to dial it down.
“She has always said if we had a fourth child she would name it Patience, as just a subtle reminder on a daily basis that there’s another tempo in life,” Emanuel said.
Still, the mayor said, he is getting things done.
