CHICAGO (STMW) — A 17-year-old boy was shot Saturday afternoon in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

The teen was standing in the 7000 block of South Vernon Avenue when he was shot in the leg a few minutes after noon, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

The boy then ran to the 7400 block of South Vernon, from where he was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care in “stable” condition, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
