Eight Wounded In Shootings Across City Tuesday

CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least eight people -- including a 74-year-old man -- have been wounded in shootings across the city Tuesday.

The most recent shooting happened about 3:45 p.m. in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The 22-year-old man was walking in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition with a gunshot wound to his arm, police said.

A 74-year-old man was shot about 1:30 p.m. in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The man was shot in the neck in the 11200 block of South Throop Street, police said. He was taken in "stable" condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About an hour earlier, two people were shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the buttocks, foot and lower leg and a 23-year-old woman was shot in the lower leg in the 200 block of West 105th Place, police said. Both were in "stable" condition on the scene.

A few hours earlier, two men were shot in Englewood.

The men -- ages 26 and 29 -- were approached on the street in the 700 block of West 69th Street about 10:40 a.m. by a suspect who shot them both in the legs, police said. Both were taken in good condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

The victims are not cooperating with police.

About 8:35 a.m., a man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 19-year-old man was shot in both arms in the 5100 block of West Thomas Street, police said. He was taken in "stable" condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.

About midnight, a man was shot in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 34-year-old was standing in a doorway in the 5100 block of West Parker Avenue when someone fired from the street and shot him in the arm, police said.

The man, a self-admitted gang member, was taken to Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center in good condition.
