(CBS) — Hundreds of parents along with their children are spending time together at the Dia del Nino festival.
Parents and their kids packed the UIC Forum for the event which kicked off with a walk promoting a healthy lifestyle in the Mexican community.
Cesareo Moreno, visual arts director at the National Museum of Mexican Art, says children who attended the Dia del Nino festival had the chance to have fun while being active.
“Once they are inside of the forum, there are many games and activities. There are a lot of competitions, we have bow and arrows, we have all sorts of different activities that children really love and enjoy and they are doing exercise at the same time,” said Moreno.
The festival also featured free health screenings and alternatives for healthier eating.
