Alligator Found During Eviction At Chatham Apartment
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Authorities found a 13-inch long alligator while evicting a tenant from a Chatham neighborhood apartment Wednesday on the South Side.
The alligator was found in a tank in the dining room of the apartment in the 8200 block of South Vernon Avenue, the Cook County Sheriff's office said in a statement.
Deputies were at the apartment about 8:40 a.m. enforcing a court-ordered eviction, officials said.
The resident was home during the eviction, and city animal control officials were called to take the reptile.
The owner was not charged or cited, and neither the deputies nor the alligator were hurt.
