(CBS) — Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith has won his second career Norris Trophy, given annually the the NHL’s top defenseman.

The 30-year-old defenseman had 61 points in 79 games in the 2013-14 season, the second highest mark of his career. He beat out Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins and Shea Weber of the Nashville Predators for the award.

Keith has now become the third Blackhawks defenseman to win the award multiple times, joining PIerre Pilote (1963, 64, 65) and Chris Chelios (1993, 96). Keith won his first Norris for the 2009-10 season.

The winner of the Norris Trophy is determined by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association.
