Perchin' At The Pier Lures Anglers To Lakefront

(CBS) -- Dozens of avid anglers were up early and out along the lakefront Saturday for the annual Perchin' at the Pier event.

The fishing contest starts early as you might imagine. Around 6:30 a.m. folks were out there with their fishing poles. From children to avid fishermen the competition was open to everyone.

"Every year seems to be more people. I think word just gets around how good of a time everybody has and right about now the perch usually are good," said fisherman Joe Mancanio.

It's purely a friendly competition, but medals and prizes were handed out.
