Woman Charged With Stealing Car With 13-Year-Boy Inside

(CBS) --A Chicago woman was allegedly drunk when she caused a crash this morning and then stole the vehicle she hit, with a 13-year-old boy in the passenger seat.

WBBM's Mike Krauser reports it started on I-80 in Illinois and ended miles away on I-94 in Indiana.

According to Indiana State Police, a man and his son were in a suburban at about 5:30 Saturday morning when it was rear-ended by a van driven by a woman.

The man got out and was checking on the woman and the damage when, he says, she jumped into his suburban and took off with his 13-year-old son in the passenger seat.

He was left standing on the side of the road watching his vehicle and son heading toward Indiana.

He called police and told them his son had a cell phone. They made contact and while the woman, who police say was drunk, was driving the boy was helping police with their location describing landmarks they were passing.

An Indiana trooper caught up with the suburban in Porter County. The boy was fine and the woman was arrested.

She's identified as 32-year-old Larona Green, of Chicago. Charges include drunk driving, possession of a stolen vehicle and criminal confinement.
