3-Year-Old Critically Wounded In Brighton Park Shooting, Three People In Custody
(CBS) -- A three-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in stomach and hip Friday night on the Southwest Side. According to Police News Affairs, three people are in custody with charges pending.
Police say the shooting happened on South Sacramento Avenue in the Brighton Park neighborhood just after 10 p.m. Friday.
The boy was not the intended target and he was standing outside on the sidewalk with his mother and a man and a group walked past them.
Police aren't saying what words were exchanged but when the group reached the end of the block, a man who was in that group turned around and opened fire.
The boy was the only one shot and he was brought to Mt. Sinai Hospital. He had to undergo surgery overnight.
