FBI: TCF Bank Robbery In Garfield Ridge Is Suspect's Third
(STMW) -- A man suspected of robbing two suburban banks and trying to rob a third in the last three months struck again Monday morning, this time in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood on the Southwest Side, the FBI said.
The man walked into a TCF Bank branch at 6107 S. Archer about 10 a.m. and handed a note to a teller, demanding money, authorities said.
The teller complied, and the robber made off with more than $2,000, according to a Chicago Police source.
The man did not show a weapon, and there were no injuries reported, police said.
He is described as a thin, 5-foot-10 black male in his mid-20s with "scattered facial hair," authorities said. He was wearing clear glasses, a black baseball hat and faded black T-shirt.
The man is also suspected of robbing TCF Bank branches at 1952 W. Galena Blvd. in Aurora about 11:40 a.m. on July 9; and 8801 S. Ridgeland Ave. in Oak Lawn about 9:35 a.m. on June 10, according to the FBI.
He also attempted to rob a TCF Bank branch at 507 E. Woodlawn Ave. in LaGrange Park about 10:45 a.m. on July 16, the FBI said.
