Naperville Quintuplets Turning 18

(CBS) -- They made headlines with their births and now a set of quintuplets from Naperville are turning 18 on Tuesday.

WBBM's Nancy Harty reports Bridget Collins is feeling a little reflective today, the day before the birthday of two of her boys, Padraic and Aidan, and three of her girls, Grace, Elizabeth and Clare.

"I can't believe it has been 18 years and yet, oh my God, what an 18 years it has been," Collins said.

Those early years were full of diapers, feedings and little sleep.

"It's kind of a blur. It went fast and yet at times it seemed like it went so slow," she said.

After surviving everything from potty training to driving lessons, Collins said she expects at least three of her five Neuqua Valley seniors will go to the College of DuPage next year despite strong desires to do their own thing.

"Tomorrow will be the last birthday that they are all be together. With at least one going away to college, they won't be together next year," Collins said.

The cost of college for five all at once is daunting, so she and her husband have always told the kids they'd have to come up with the money themselves.

One thing she didn't consider was how they're all going to get to class next year with different schedules and only two cars at their disposal.

The quints also have an older brother, Liam, who is 21.

For their birthday, she is making them take off of work so they can celebrate together, this year with one cake.
