YWCA Chicago Purple Purse Challenge

Two-thirds of Americans believe domestic violence is a serious problem, yet just more than 1 in 3 have ever talked about it. Allstate Foundation Purple Purse is making it fashionable to talk about domestic violence and the financial abuse that traps women in abusive relationships.

Each year, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago provides 150,000 women and their families with the tools and resources to transition from surviving to thriving. Many of the women they serve are survivors of domestic violence and, through their Economic Empowerment Institute, they help those women achieve the economic sustainability needed to leave and never return to an abusive relationship.

For more than 138 years, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago has been committed to serving the needs of women and girls. The YWCA's mission to eliminate racism and empower women is actualized through a large breadth of programs and services designed to enhance our three empowerment priorities of Freedom from Violence, Economic Sustainability, and Education and Training. Regardless of race or economic status, the YWCA provides women with access to the support, tools and opportunities they need to transform their lives and make valuable contributions to their communities.
