Apple Faithful Begin Lining Up For New iPhone

(CBS) -- Apple devotees were waiting in lines Thursday as the iPhone 6 was set to go on sale in the morning.

WBBM's Mike Krauser reports.

Crowds Gather For New iPhone

The first person in line was Mark Tate, a tech guy who perhaps said it best as he explained why he would spend two nights in a lawn chair outside the Apple store on Michigan Avenue.

"It's a cult thing. I mean, we believe in Apple. It's the 'why' they do what they do," he said. "They make great stuff."

As for the new nickname for the iPhone 6 Plus -- "Phablet," for the larger screen size – maybe that's not so great.

"Yeah, it is kind of hard to say," Tate said. "I'm not in love with that name. I just call it an oversize phone."

Some people in line planned to sell their places.
