2 Killed, 12 Wounded In Citywide Shootings Since Friday Night

(STMW) -- Two people were killed and at least twelve others wounded in shootings across the city starting early Friday night.

Four people were shot – one fatally – about 1:10 a.m. Saturday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The four were at a party in the 4400 block of West Madison when, during an argument, a man pulled out a gun and opened fire. A 22-year-old man — identified as Eddie Taylor of the 1900 block of South Homan — was shot in the face and pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Two 20-year-old women were also wounded in the shooting and taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment. One was shot several times and was listed in critical condition. The other was shot in the buttocks. Her condition stabilized, police said.

Another man, 18, was shot in the back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had also stabilized, police said.

Late Friday, a man was killed and a teen boy was wounded in a shooting in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

About 10:50 p.m., 20-year-old Roddy Comer and a boy, 16, were standing near the corner of 88th and Carpenter when a male walked up and opened fire, police and the medical examiner's office said.

Comer, of the 7100 block of South Maplewood, was shot in the back and buttocks. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 12:47 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.

The teen was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, police said. His condition had stabilized.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened at 2:55 a.m. Sunday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 27-year-old was on a sidewalk in the 12200 block of South Halsted about 2:45 a.m. when a group of people opened fire, police said. The man was shot in the ankle and another bullet grazed his wrist.

He took himself to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition had stabilizied. Police said the man has documented gang ties.

Also early Sunday, a man was critically hurt when he was shot during an attempted robbery in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The 51-year-old man was in the 1600 block of South Central Park about 2:30 a.m. when he was approached on the street by a male who tried to rob him, police said. The man refused to cooperate and the suspect fired a shot, striking the man in the side.

The man was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai.

At least six other people were hurt in separate shootings since 7 :15 p.m. Friday.

Additionally, a man was shot and killed by Chicago Police early Sunday in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

About 12:35 a.m., Wentworth District tactical officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 5300 block of South King Drive, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

A 26-year-old man with a gun ran east toward Washington Park when the officers tried to stop him, police said. As of the officers chased him, the man allegedly pointed a gun in their direction and one of the officers opened fire, striking him multiple times.

He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
