Man Charged In Downtown Convenience Store Robberies

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged in connection with two armed robberies at convenience stores in the Loop and West Loop earlier this month.

Tydeon Woodland, 21, was charged with two counts of armed robbery. Police, who announced the charges late Wednesday, allege that Woodland robbed a convenience store in the 500 block of West Lake Street on Oct. 17 and another in the 100 block of South Clark Street on Oct. 23.

In each robbery, police allege, Woodland walked in the store with a knife and demanded money from clerks before running off.

On Tuesday, Woodland was held by CTA security in the 500 block of South Pulaski after he was recognized from a CTA lookout bulletin, police said. He was later identified in a line-up.

Woodland, of the 7100 block of South Harvard, is due in bond court Thursday.
