Blackhawks Reassign Darling To Rockford

(CBS) The Blackhawks have made up their mind on their backup goalie.

The team reassigned goaltender Scott Darling to Rockford of the AHL, it announced Friday, after a solid stretch of play from him raised questions as to whether he or Antti Raanta would be the backup goalie. Starting goalie Corey Crawford had missed six games with an upper-body injury, which gave the 25-year-old Darling a chance to prove himself.

In three games, Darling posted a 2-1-0 record with a 1.98 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. He made the team's three most recent starts. Raanta started the first three games that Crawford missed, going 1-2-0 with a 2.03 goals against average and .933 save percentage.

The Blackhawks return to action on Saturday evening when they play the Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. Crawford is expected to be in goal, as he recently said he feels fully healthy.
